Frequently Asked Questions

About us

Learning Zone is Diabetes UK’s online education service to help people living with diabetes manage their condition.

We know that four out of five people don’t feel fully in control of their diabetes.  And that sometimes it’s hard to get onto an education course.  Or some people just prefer to learn more about their condition in their own time and at their own pace. That’s why we’ve put together information from clinical experts and combined it with the real experiences of people living with diabetes to help create a personalised service that helps you:

  • Improve your knowledge and understanding of diabetes
  • Find ways to manage your diabetes more effectively
  • Discover new skills, activities and behaviours so you can take better control of your condition
  • Improve your confidence and help reduce anxiety

The information presented on this site is for general use only and is not intended to provide personal medical advice or substitute for the advice or your physician. If you have questions or concerns about individual health matters or the management of your diabetes, please consult your diabetes care team.

Diabetes UK would like to thank Dr Andreas Schmitt for providing the charity with permission to use the questions he developed to enable healthcare professionals and researchers to understand how effective patient information or an intervention can be to help people improve their diabetes self-management. We have used the questions developed by Dr Schmitt in Learning Zone's Welcome section. © Dr Andreas Schmitt, Research Institute of the Diabetes Academy Mergentheim, Germany; DSMQ: 2012; DSMQ-R: 2015

I'm getting an error message and I can't continue through Learning Zone. What can I do?

First of all, sorry you're having problems in Learning Zone. If you've recieved an error message, there are a couple of things you can try:

  • Update your account. To do this, click on your picture/name in the top right of the dashboard and select About my diabetes from the drop down menu. Check that all the answers are correct, change any that are missing or wrong, and click Update at the bottom. This should clear out any errors in your profile. Then simply return to where you left off and you should be able to continue.

  • Restart that section. If updating your account doesn't work, try restarting the section you got stuck in from the beginning (skip through the videos if you've already seen them).

  • If this didn't help, please report your problem by emailing us at learningzone@diabetes.org.uk.

How do I update my password?

Click on your picture/name in the top right of the dashboard and select About me from the drop down menu. Update your password and enter the new password in both fields below the current one. Make sure you click Save at the bottom of the page.
